No, the New York Jets shouldn't pursue WR Tyreek Hill

The New York Jets will evaluate if they possess a need at wide receiver this offseason. The initial 2025 season expectation was that the Jets lacked weapons opposite Garrett Wilson. A pair of midseason trades arguably changed that.

The team acquired John Metchie III and Adonai Mitchell via separate midseason trades. Both players flashed serious upside despite the Jets' lackluster quarterback situation. Mitchell is under contract, and Metchie will probably be retained via restricted free agency.

Wilson is returning from a season-ending injury. The Jets may not be in the market for a starting-caliber wide receiver this offseason. That's partially why the team should have no interest in pursuing Tyreek Hill, the high-profile wideout who was released from his contract by the Miami Dolphins earlier this week.

The 32-year-old Hill is recovering from a season-ending torn ACL and dislocated knee injury. Given his advancing age, there's no guarantee that he returns to the field with his previous speed and athleticism intact. Hill has six 1,000-plus receiving yard seasons under his belt. He's an eight-time Pro Bowler and five-time First-Team All-Pro selection.

Hill also has alleged character issues through reported and well-documented on-and-off-field issues. The Jets are trying to build a winning culture heading into Aaron Glenn's second season. Hill's personality probably isn't a great fit for the locker room.

Hill is also probably interested in signing with an immediate contender. The Jets may not fit his criteria either. Don't expect Hill to land in East Rutherford.
