Mets, veteran OF Mike Tauchman agree to minor league deal: reports

The Mets are adding another veteran to their outfield depth.

New York and Mike Tauchman are in agreement on a minor league deal, according to multiple reports.

Tauchman, 35, hit .263 with a .756 OPS over 93 games for the Chicago White Sox in 2025, totaling nine home runs, 17 doubles, a triple, and 40 RBI.

The move comes about a week after the Mets inked MJ Melendez to a one-year deal as they build out their bench. It also comes on the heels of the team announcing Juan Soto will be moving to LF, opening up RF to prospect Carson Benge and others.

Over eight major league seasons and 567 games, Tauchman owns a .246 batting average and a .727 OPS with 41 home runs, 77 doubles, and 195 RBI.

He was a 10th-round pick by the Colorado Rockies in the 2013 MLB Draft and eventually made his debut in 2017 with the club. He played in Colorado through the 2018 season before getting traded to the Yankees in March 2019. Tauchman played the next two seasons in New York, but was traded again just a month into the 2021 season to the San Francisco Giants.

Tauchman spent the remainder of the 2021 season with San Francisco and then played in the KBO League in 2022. He returned to the majors in 2023, signing with the Chicago Cubs and playing 217 games over two seasons.

Since returning to MLB, Tauchman has recorded an average slash line of .255/.359/.381 and a .740 OPS.
