Cameron Indoor Stadium isn't an easy place to play. Judgments on a college basketball team shouldn't be made solely on how they perform in Duke's home arena.

But there's plenty more to judge with the Syracuse Orange than just their 101-64 drubbing at the hands of the Blue Devils on Monday. The Adrian Autry era keeps getting worse, not better.

It's not clear where SU can go from here, but it's clear that the Orange have to go somewhere.

Syracuse as an institution is going to be getting a new chancellor and a new athletic director. There might also need to be a new men's basketball coach.

Autry was promoted from Jim Boeheim's side to take over the big chair, and it simply hasn't worked.

It's not as simple as blaming it all on Autry. But it's also not the time to just keep banging a head into the wall and expecting different results.

Autry is now 4-24 in Quad 1 games. At a once-proud program like Syracuse, that's not good enough.

Even little moments can make it tough to believe in the process.

"We had a plan" to stop Cameron Boozer on Monday night, Autry said. The freshman phenom had a double-double in the first half.

Nice plan.

It feels like Syracuse has plenty of talent, but it rarely seems to reach its potential, first in the late days of the Jim Boeheim era and now certainly under Autry.

The offense doesn't create good enough shots. Starters don't make their free throws. The defense can't decide whether man or zone is the better option.

For better or worse, Syracuse needs a fresh start. Many will want Gerry McNamara to come back down the road from Siena, but it might be time for someone less associated with the Orange.

Syracuse is in a big conference. It has nice facilities and a supportive fanbase.

A coach can still win in Central New York. It's just looking less and less like it'll be Autry.
