Beavers keep unbeaten streak alive with wins against Duluth, St. Cloud State

Feb. 16—DULUTH — The Bemidji State women's tennis team just keeps on winning.

The Beavers took two victories over the weekend in Duluth: a 6-1 win over Minnesota Duluth Friday and a 5-2 win against St. Cloud State Saturday.

It's their sixth straight victory to begin the season, a program record.

BSU swept five of their six singles matches against the Bulldogs Friday, only losing two sets. Its only loss came from No. 3 doubles and No. 4 singles.

On Saturday, SCSU proved to be a tougher match. The Huskies pulled out wins in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, but other Beavers stepped up.

Paula Garcia Acebal and Ana Lucía Ibáñez Castro lost their first sets before pulling out a victory.

Garcia Acebal won her No. 2 singles match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, while Ibáñez Castro won 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 in her No. 4 singles match.

BSU (6-0) look to keep their winning streak alive on the road against Augustana, Sioux Falls and the University of North Dakota Feb. 21 and 22.
