Role: Offensive Coordinator
Previous Role: Quarterbacks Coach
Previous Team: Seattle Seahawks
Age: 37
The Raiders have hired Seahawks quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko as their next offensive coordinator, per multiple reports. The Clearfield Area, Pennsylvania native spent four years at Pittsburgh as a quarterback and has bounced around with a variety of positions in his NFL time. Janocko, has worked directly for new Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak in Minnesota, New Orleans, Seattle, and now Las Vegas. The 37 year old becomes one of the younger offensive coordinators in the NFL, and will get the chance to coach first overall selection Fernando Mendoza.
*I won’t be touching on experience more than a decade old, for any of these breakdowns unless it’s a very key thing to note*
Experience
Janocko immediately jumped into coaching after spending four seasons as a quarterback at Pitt. Janocko started out with Rutgers in 2011 as a grad assistant, before becoming a quality control coach with the Buccaneers in 2012-2013. He jumped back to college in 2014 as the Mercyhurst QB coach before landing with the Vikings as their quality control coach in 2015 and 2016. In 2017-2019, Janocko served as the Vikings assistant and co offensive line coach. In 2020 he transitioned to the Vikings WR coach role, and in 2021 the Vikings QB coach role. The Bears hired Janocko in 2022 as their quarterbacks coach till 2023 where he rejoined Kubiak with the Saints in 2024. He followed Kubiak to Seattle for the 2025 season, and now lands in Las Vegas
Minnesota Vikings (2017-2019)
Janocko transitioned to the Vikings assistant OL coach role in 2017 working under offensive line coach Tony Sparano and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. The 2017 Vikings ranked 22nd overall using 22 different combinations and despite this went 13-3. Additionally, the teams run blocking ranked 12th overall. Tackles Riley Reiff and Rashod Hill combined to allow 5 sacks and 78 pressures, with guard Joe Berger allowing just 3 sacks and 28 pressures. The Vikings OL only allowed 11 sacks in 2017 but allowed through 218 pressures as well. In 2018, following the sudden passing of offensive line coach Tony Sparano, Janocko served as the teams co-offensive line coach along with former longtime NFL TE coach Clancy Barone. In their lone season as the teams offensive line coaches, the team allowed 241 pressures, and the OL allowed 28 sacks. Overall, the team ranked 29th overall with 31st in pass protection and 27th in run blocking, and finished 29th in EPA. Guards Tom Compton and Mike Remmers allowed 14 sacks and 76 pressures with tackle Riley Reiff allowing 3 sacks and 42 pressures.
Janocko was demoted to assistant offensive line coach in 2019 under Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski, and current Seahawks assistant Rick Dennison. The Vikings ranked 27th in pass protection, 11th in run blocking, and 19th overall. Quarterback Kirk Cousins was pressured 185 times and was sacked 29 times on the offensive line’s fault. Tackle Riley Reiff allowed 7 sacks and 32 pressures with 10 penalties. Additionally, rookie center Garrett Bradbury struggled allowing 5 sacks and 31 pressures. The Vikings did see massive success in the run game ranking 9th in EPA/rush, but 28th in EPA/pass.
Minnesota Vikings (2020)
After time on the offensive line, Janocko transitioned to wide receivers coach in 2020 under offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, and in unison with QB coach Klint Kubiak. Janocko assisted with standout Justin Jefferson’s sensational rookie season where he earned a pro bowl honor, all-pro award, and finished 2nd in rookie of the year voting. Jefferson logged 88 receptions, 1400 yards, and 7 TD with another 58 first downs. Additionally, veteran Adam Thielen hauled in 74 receptions, 925 yards, and 14 touchdowns with his 14 touchdowns being a career high. The Vikings didn’t see much involvement beyond Thielen and Jefferson with Chad Beebe ranking 6th on the team in yards with just 201 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 receptions.
Minnesota Vikings (2021)
Following his fathers retirement in 2021, Klint Kubiak was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2021 and thus Janocko to quarterbacks coach as well. Kirk Cousins logged a 66% completion rate, 4221 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions along with being named to the pro bowl. His 4221 yards is the third highest of his career and his 33 touchdowns are the second highest of his career. In addition, his 1.2% interception rate is the lowest mark that Cousins has recorded through his 14 year time in the NFL and his 5.9% touchdown rate is the 3rd best. In one start without Cousins, veteran Sean Mannion (now the Eagles OC) recorded a 61% completion rate, 189 yards, and a touchdown. The Vikings ranked 4th in EPA/pass, and 6th in passing offense with Kirk Cousins having the 6th best EPA among quarterbacks.
Chicago Bears (2022-2023)
Janocko was hired by the Bears following the firing of Mike Zimmer in 2021, landing with Chicago and former Raiders offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Second year quarterback Justin Fields recorded a 60% completion rate, 2242 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while also posting 160 rushing attempts, 1143 yards, and 8 touchdowns. In 2024, Fields saw some improvement with a 62% completion rate, 2562 yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions along with 657 yards and four touchdowns. Fields ranked 21st in EPA, 22nd in EPA/play, 27th in pass EPA, 2nd in rush EPA, 28th in success rate, and last in time to throw.
Through his two seasons coaching Fields, the Ohio State quarterback saw his two highest marks in touchdown rate, yardage, completion rate, rushing yards, EPA, success rate, and yards/attempt.

Additionally, Carr ranked 11th in big time throw rate and 6th in turnover worthy throw rate. Carr saw the third lowest INT rate of his career and the third highest TD rate of his career. Rattler meanwhile, ranked 38th in EPA, last in EPA/play, last in pass EPA, 37th in rush EPA, last in success rate, and 5th to last in success rate. His big time throw rate, was last, and his turnover worthy play rate, was well third to last.

Additionally, Darnold ranked 14th in EPA, 15th in EPA/play, 8th in passing EPA, 3rd in success rate, 2nd in completion rate over expected, 16th in avg. depth of target, and 17th in time to throw.
Philosophy:
Janocko is pretty much as close to a Kubiak disciple as you can get at this point in Kubiak’s career. Janocko has experience working in the wide zone, west coast, heavy RPO system that focuses on prioritizing short pass attacks with designed looks downfield. Additionally, Janocko has preached an emphasis on quarterbacks being “perfect” within 8 yards of the LOS and working the sidelines well. First overall selection Fernando Mendoza has done an excellent job with a near 80% completion rate within 8 yards, and a 72% rate when targeting the sidelines. Janocko has worked under a variety of offensive minds, but majority have settled to a wide concept, and he’ll likely follow exactly in Kubiak’s foot steps in terms of his offensive system. The expectation should be for Janocko to work with the quarterback and assist with passing concepts, while Kubiak takes playcalling, play design, scripting, and gameplanning while Las Vegas brings in an assistant for the run game.
Players to Watch, Connections:
Notable Seahawks free agents attached to Kubiak are pretty much the same connections that would be made to Janocko.
