Top Patriots defender hinting at undergoing offseason surgery

New England Patriots linebacker Harold Landry III hinted at potential offseason surgery for a lingering knee injury, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.

In his weekly notes column, Reiss touched on a conversation he had with Landry entering the offseason. The veteran defender has been dealing with the same injury that he suffered in the Patriots' Week 6 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

"I'm going to get my knee right, and we're going to get right back to it," Landry said, per Reiss.

Landry played a major role on the Patriots' defense this season. He recorded 27 combined tackles and a team-high 8.5 sacks. His knee injury issues lingered throughout the year and forced him to sit during the team's AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos.

However, he was able to suit up for Super Bowl LX, even though he clearly wasn't 100 percent. Landry, a former Pro Bowler, would be a major addition to the defense if he's completely healthy next season. There is plenty of time for him to get right before the spring and summer work begins.
